Entry/Admission Requirements

The academic levels of the MSc Programmes are highly advanced, and a thorough basic knowledge of one engineering or science discipline related to the MSc programme is required for admission.

Admission is based on the following criteria:

  1. Degree: Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Bachelor of Engineering or a Bachelor of Natural Science degree obtained at an internationally recognized university (You can find general assessments for specific countries on the website of the Danish Agency for Universities and Internationalization. From September 2017 intake, the bachelor degree must be less than 10 years old.
  2. Specific requirements: For details on specific requirements please refer to the entry requirements under each individual MSc programme of your choice.
  3. Grade Point Average: Approximately 75 per cent of the maximum obtainable grade. This may vary depending on the grading system of the university awarding the Bachelor degree.
  4. English Language Proficiency: All applicants are required to provide documentation of English language proficiency comparable with English B-level with a minimum grade of 2 from a Danish upper-secondary school. From Spring 2020 the minimum grade of English is 3. This can be documented in different ways.

Application Deadlines

Application deadline spring:

  • September 15th non-EU/EEA
  • October 15th for EU/EEA citizens.

The admission process and the requirements are the same as for the fall intake.

Application deadline fall:

  • January 15th for non-EU/EEA citizens
  • July 31st for EU/EEA citizens.

Starting Dates

The academic year starts on the Monday closest to 1st September for the Autumn intake and 1st February for the Spring intake.

As a newly admitted student you will be formally admitted from 1 September or 1 February depending on the intake.

Tuition Fees

EU/EEA citizens are not required to pay tuition fees to enrol in degree programmes in Denmark as their tuition fees are covered by the Danish state.

Most Non-EU/EEA citizens are required to pay tuition fees.

The tuition fee for paying students enrolled in a DTU study programme is EUR 15,000 per academic year. The tuition fee for 2 years MSc Engineering programme is EUR 30.000.

Scholarships and Tuition Fee Waivers

DTU offers a limited number of tuition fee waivers however there are different scholarships available.

Please be aware that the tuition fee waivers are only available for students admitted for study start in the autumn semester.
